Alka Yagnik

You'll remember her for the unforgettable rendition of the 1980s hit, Ek do teen, from the movie Tezaab. She can very well be called as the Lady with the Midas TOUCH. Any song that fends her sensational vocals to, has to field a place in the countdown charts. And yes ...we are definitely talking about Alka Yagnik, now often referred to as the reigning queen of Hindi film music.

Alka Yagnik needs no introduction. Born and brought up in Calcutta, Alka Yagnik started singing Bhajans for the Calcutta Radio, at the tender age of six. She came to Bombay almost two decades ago and ever since she has become an inseparable part of the film industry. Over the years, she has added four Filmfare awards and two National awards to her list of honours. Today, her list of actresses spans from Sharmila Tagore, Rakhee and Rekha to Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee, Amisha Patel and Kareena Kapoor. There is no significant composer she has not sung for, and in the case of the toppers she has consistently been the first and most frequent choice of names like Laxmikant - Pyarelal, Anand Milind , Nadeem - Shravan, Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan and Jatin - Lalit.

The cavalcade of hits include Tum Paas Aaye (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), Aati Kya Khandala (Ghulam),Jaati Hoon Main (Karan Arjun), Kaho Naa.. Pyar Hai (Title Track) Taal Se Taal Mila (Taal), Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya (Akele Hum Akele Tum) Tum Yaad Aaye (Hit Album with Javed Akhtar as lyricist) and the list goes on...
