Bay Bahuroopi

Bay Area

Founded in February 1996, Bay Bahuroopi is one of Bay Area’s premier drama group primarily focused on Bengali theater productions. A group of talented Bengalis started this group with the introductory full-length drama production of Kenaram Becharam in May 1996. The production was very well received with local Indian newspapers calling it a big success.

Bay Bahuroopi produced many successful theater productions in the subsequent years in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles as listed below:

In Sept 1998, Bay Bahuroopi also presented Kaleidoscope (by Sukalpa Biswas), a colorful medley of songs, dance, drama and recitation mix. It was yet another great success.

In May 1999, Bay Bahuroopi staged its first fully independent production Tulkalaam. This was the original Bengali play of the famous Amol Palekar movie Golmaal. This was a houseful show and was widely appreciated as one of the best productions ever.

In August 2006, Bay Bahuroopi will stage its first historical drama Shaajahan.

Prabhat Phire Esho

In Natya Mela Bay Bahuroopi will stage Manoj Mitra's Prabhat Phire Esho directed by Subhankar Bhattacharya.

Struggling writer Soumya and her actress wife Jhumur is quite a couple, their lives and careers far from being smooth, but was going along. But one evening, everything changes with the sudden arrival of Prabhat, Jhumur’s college mate. See it all unfold in this high drama presented by one of Bay Area’s premier drama group Bay Bahuroopi.
