SACRAMENTO
A group of Bengalees have been performing drama in and around the Davis/Sacramento area since 1997. In 2002, the group organized itself under the name ‘Utsav’, serving mainly the Bengali community in the Greater Sacramento area. Besides staging drama, Utsav also organizes Durga Pujo, Saraswati Pujo, and other cultural/musical programs from time to time. Below are some of Utsav’s drama productions:

Babuder Dalkukure
In this year's Natya Mela Utsav will present Manoj Mitra's Babuder Dalkukure directed by Somen Nandi.
Babuder Dalkukure is a comedy-type drama. It is about a contest between two Government lawmakers (ministers) to impress their Chief Minister (equivalent to Governor of a state in USA) to get his permission to visit a foreign country (Netherlands). How will a private servant drive the contest? And what will the Chief Minister ultimately decide? To know these details, you have to watch this 60-minute drama.
Participants in Babuder Dalkukure include: Abid Hossein, Adi Choudri, Bipasha Chowdhury, Biswanath Mukherjee, Koushik Das, Mitra Choudri, Shomeek Paul, Shyamal Chattaraj, Shyamal Chowdhury, and Udayan Chanda.
